Disney

Of all the studios, Disney (and studios Disney owns, such as Pixar, Touchstone Pictures, Miramax, Buena Vista) has the most restrictive rights for showing their movies at an outdoor venue. Basically you can't.

However, for 2008 Disney is allowing limited outdoor showings during the following time periods and with the following restrictions:

  • May 1, 2008 to May 15, 2008
  • August 21, 2008 to September 30, 2008

No Saturday showings, no audiences larger than 200 people (and you must provide information on how you will limit your audience size). No alcoholic beverages. No fundraising (i.e. no asking for donations).

Licensing costs are 50% of your box office receipts if you charge admission, or the normal licensing costs (usually $150-$250) if you hosted a free event, whichever is greater.
